Duties and Responsibilities of Women's Ministry Council Members

Christian Growth

Encourage the women in the Word of God and fellowship

  1. Review with the Women's Ministry Council the Bible study material to be used for study. Submit this material to the Session for approval.
  2. Recruit new hostesses for Covenant Fellowship Groups (CFGs) and/or Bible study leaders as needed. Obtain the Session's approval for the Bible study leaders.
  3. Meet with hostesses for CFGs and Bible study leaders to plan for next term/study.
  4. Coordinate hostesses, study leaders, study materials and members of Covenant Fellowship Groups.
  5. Submit announcements about CFGs and meetings to the Women's Ministry secretary or to the church secretary, whichever is the council guidance for the current time.
  6. Provide information to CFGs hostess or Bible study leaders about the programs, activities, and opportunities in the church.
  7. Work with the secretary for advance publicity and registrations.
  8. Make available or recommend books and/or tapes to encourage spiritual growth among the women. (Unless obtained through the local church or PCA sources these must be approved by the Session.)
  9. Keep the women informed of the activities and resources of the Christian Education and Publications Committee of the PCA. Unless the Christian Growth Chairperson requests mailings from CE&P, these also come to the Women's Ministry President for review.

Hospitality (Hostess)

Practice hospitality by example and service

  1. Enlist a committee of women and men to help throughout the year
  2. Be a member of the Church Hospitality Committee
  3. Areas of responsibility regarding Spring Seminar:
    1. Purchase any special paper products needed.
    2. Responsible for drinks and menu as discussed with Special Events Coordinator.
    3. Arrange for any help that will be needed.
  4. Areas of responsibility regarding Mother/Daughter Tea:
    1. Arrange for tables and chairs to be setup
    2. Decorate tables, including china (if used, make necessary arrangements) and centerpieces.
    3. Plan menu and arrange for the caterer.
    4. Arrange for clean up.
  5. Areas of responsibility regarding Fall Retreat:
    1. Plan with Special Events Coordinator
    2. Maintain responsibility for food at the retreats held at church
  6. Areas of responsibility regarding Christmas Dinner:
    1. The hostess chairs this event.
    2. Responsible for all aspects of the Christmas dinner except for the program and publicity/registration (including servers and fudge for the servers).
    3. Plan menu and arrange for the caterer.
    4. Purchase special paper products, or recruit people to bring china, including cups and napkins for pre-dinner refreshments.
    5. Arrange for table and chairs to be setup including the table in the Narthex for the refreshments.
    6. Arrange for table centerpieces and other decorations.
    7. Provide a favor for each lady attending, either purchased or homemade
    8. Pass sign up list in adult Sunday School classes to get volunteers for set up, clean up, making fudge (or whatever gift for servers), and men servers.
    9. Oversee setup and cleanup.
  7. Women's Ministry Closet
    1. Inventory the closet
    2. Maintain order in the closet
    3. Coordinate with the Wedding Coordinator any items needed from the Women's Ministry closet
  8. Keep order in the kitchen
